My First Poem: Following Expectations

Hello Readers,

Over a month ago, something has inspired me to write this poem about how we as human beings are following the expectations of everything such as our appearances.

so…

Here’s the poem

expectations

Following Expectations

My Hair should be like this

My style should be like this

My lips should be like this

My hair should be like this

My voice should be like this

Why like this?

Why do we have to follow these rules to be accepted in society?

Why do we have to chase these pointless things?

Why do we mark everyone individually with a red pen?

Why are we grading our final result like an examiner?

All I want to do Is to reach for the moon and stars.

Instead, I’m chasing something pointless like everyone else.

Then…

An angel tapped me on the shoulder

And

said

 You are a beautiful sunflower

You should

You can

You will

reach for the sun

You shouldn’t listen to the demons who are disguised as roses.

Why are you reaching for a grave instead of a queen’s throne?

Why are you following pointless things?

Instead of being a sheep in someone else’s world.

Become a shepherd in your own world.

The angel gave me a shield and a sword so I can fight.

I walk with my chin up and my head up high to face the world.
